Building a House

Building a House

I've been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to blog about LOADS of stuff I have to blog about.

One such thing is the Building a House animation.
Building a House is a short animation, funded by the Irish Film Board and directed by Emmet O'Neill. It's written by Bif (formally referred to as Brendan O'Connell for the purposes of this film) and I too played a part in it's making!

The animation features two characters - John the Sheep and his sidekick Fessington - who appeared previously in 'Crimescene', a Flash animation the three of us worked on previously.

Emmet did an amazing job on the animation, it looks really beautiful - and the storyline is as crazy and entertaining as you'd expect from Bif.

Myself and Emmet also worked up a nice website for the animation, and Bif is busily populating it with content as we speak. Be sure and keep an eye on the site for news of screenings, as well as god knows what other goodies that Emmet has planned for the site.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Bob Byrne, of Clamnuts, linked to the teaser trailer for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film due out in 2007 - I can't believe I hadn't heard about it before!

It look beautiful.

YouTube is a weird and wonderful place...

Isn't YouTube great? The only thing is, how do people dig out the good stuff? I never find anything good if I browse there, but I always stumble upon great stuff on other people's blogs. Today I visited my cousins site, who sent me to Mathew Good's site, who had posted this gem:

The credits go like this:
Kelly
"Shoes"
Lyrics and Music by Liam Sullivan
Mixed by Kenn Michael
A Liam Show Production

I also found this great list of amazing stuff on YouTube including clips of Tom Waits, The Sex Pistols, David Lynch short films and Johnny Cash stuff...

Twelve Angry Men at the Everyman

Usually I keep these things fairly quiet around here, but seeing as Bif let the cat out of the bag I may as well tell you I am acting in a production of Twelve Angry Men in the Everyman Palace Theatre in Cork, Ireland.

Twelve Angry Men is probably best known as the Sidney Lumet film starring Henry Fonda - it was written for television originally but because of it's setting (twelve men in one room) it was perfect for the stage.

The production I am in currently is directed by Mrion Wyatt and has Alf McCarthy playing the role of Juror No.8 - the role Fonda played in the film. The full cast list is as follows:
  • Judges Voice: Conor Tallon
  • Guard: Martin Condon
  • Juror #1: Paul Creighton
  • Juror #2: Barry O'Reilly
  • Juror #3: Hugh Moynihan
  • Juror #4: Trevor Ryan
  • Juror #5: Frank Prendergast
  • Juror #6: Charlie Ruxton
  • Juror #7: Conor Dwane
  • Juror #8: Alf McCarthy
  • Juror #9: Michael Twomey
  • Juror #10: Michael Murphy
  • Juror #11: David Coon
  • Juror #12: Ian McGurk

The show opened last Monday and runs until the 22nd of July. Tickets are €25 and €18 concessions, but ALL tickets for Monday and Tuesday or only €15.

So there you go, audience reaction has been extremely good, reviews have also been good, however to avoid disappointing you I will tell you now I only have a handful of lines - but on the plus side I am on stage ALL THE TIME :D

Oh and my folks reckoned Alf McCarthy put in a far superior performance to Henry Fonda's - and despite usually being a huge Fonda fan I'm inclined to agree with them.

We missed our Birthday!

Things have been so hectic we missed our own Birthday!
June two years ago we started this bizarre adventure... BifSniff is TWO years old!
Happy Birthday to us. All cards and presents gratefully accepted, late and all as they may be... :D

Irish Political Cartoons

Detail from Haughey Cartoon
As Bif mentioned previously, we have branched into doing political type cartoons (!) - this is a total experiment for us, we were asked would we be interested and we said sure f*ck it let's give it a go. Why not.

So we'll see. We've only done two so far and I've had to have Bif explain both of them to me - I'm not up on politics much. Maybe this will give me a reason to follow Irish politics!

Anyway the political cartoons are being published on IrishElection.com, and are kindly and prominently featured on the home page each week. There is an archive page for all the cartoons also. All being two right now :D

They are a very different style to the BifSniff cartoons, and so far have gotten a very favourable response. Thanks mum.

Let us know what you think of them, the style, the content blah de blah...

PC Weenies Tech Toons

There is so much stuff I should be telling you about these days, but I never seem to have the time...

Here's a quick heads-up though, if you pop over to the PC Weenies Tech Toons site the style of the cartoon may look somewhat familiar... well that's coz Krishna of PC Weenies asked us to contribute a cartoon! So we did, delighted at the opportunity to potentially reach a new audience as well as help out Krishna!

So if you've wandered over here from PC Weenies - Hello and welcome to the weird world of BifSniff!!!

Also, Krishna has done an excellent guest toon for us, as part of our Guest Strip plan, but the way things have been going here lately we haven't managed to fully realise our Guest Strip plan yet :(

So, you'll have to wait *just* a little longer to see Krishnas BifSniff toon - but it'll be worth waiting for :)

Oh, and we are still looking for people to take part, so go on, give it a go and we'll launch the results properly soon....

Thanks again to Krishna for the invitation to do a guest toon on PC Weenies!
