The Threat of Humour…

Threat of Humour

What an absolutely fantastic poster. Hammergrin is a theatre company based here in Cork, Ireland - co-founded by my friends John McCarthy and Sara Jane Power. Sara Jane also designed this poster which I love… in fact I think it’s the nicest poster I’ve seen in a very long time.

As you can see from the poster, they are having an event called ‘The Threat of Humour’ on Saturday the 10th of March, which will include the premier of John’s film ‘Crying Laughing’.

They also have a play running at the moment called Apocalypse, Then’, in the in the Everyman Palace Studio. Written by Ciaran Fitzpatrick and John McCarthy and directed by Sara Jane Power, it has been getting fairly good reviews in the Irish Times, the Examiner and the Echo, and I’ve also personally heard very good things about the show. I’m hoping to make the matinee at the weekend - it’s on at 6.30pm Friday (2 Mar) and Saturday (3 Mar) with a matinee on Saturday at 3.30 as well. More details on times and tickets here.

There are also rumours that Sara Jane will be directing Cork’s favourite world famous play ‘Disco Pigs’ this summer.

Hammergrin is a company to watch. You heard it here first. Or second if you already knew about their blog.
